Thanks to the support of District 5 voters, I’ll have the privilege of serving as your next Los Angeles City Councilwoman representing CD 5.

I am so grateful to each of you, no matter what you did to support my campaign over the last 27 months: whether you knocked on doors, made a contribution, hosted an event, or voted and asked your neighbors to do the same, it took all of us to get this far.

When we launched more than two years ago, it felt a little like base jumping off a cliff: you hope the parachute opens, but can’t be sure until you’re midair. All of you who supported me – you’ve been that parachute. I felt your support during every waking hour for the last two years.

I also want to congratulate my opponent on running a hard-fought campaign and thank his supporters for their engagement and participation. I look forward to representing all the communities of Council District 5 and working with you to make our city better no matter who you supported in this election. We all care deeply about the future of our city and neighborhoods, and together we will meet the difficult challenges we face in the days and years ahead.

I entered this campaign to make Los Angeles the place we know it needs to become: a safer, healthier, more equitable city. I remain committed to getting started on that work on my first day.
